Not many people know this but Callie and I once snuck out of my house in high school to lie in the grass and stare and wish upon the stars. Of course we talked about the dearth of Romeos in our lives that night but we knew that one day we would find them. That's why when I photographed Callie and Kyle's wedding in Long Island, I rejoiced for her wishes coming true. Fast forward a few years and here we are in New England walking around an autumnal boarding school campus where they live and work, taking photos of their growing family. Like clockwork, Callie schedules me for her holiday card photos every year and every year I look forward to it.
Kyle and Callie have their beautiful son Wesley who is three years old. He is by all definitions a cutie. Callie and I used to dream of moving to California and I like to think that Wesley's long blonde hair is reminiscent of that dream. Who knows what he'll do in his lifetime but right now he's more concerned about what to do with all the sticks that he finds!
Believe it or not, I remember being his age. My occupation was riding the sheep at my dad's farm. It's a good thing I got horses later on because sheep are not very reliable. When our family moved to Massachusetts we lived on a sixty acre farm in Housatonic. That meant a lot of roaming around with or without my brother and exploring the woods and fields. I would have been awestruck to find the little remnant of a fireplace that we did in the woods. Wesley enjoyed it too.
Callie and Kyle are such great people to know because in my mind they break the stereotype that marriage is the end of a relationship. Every time I see them, I gain hope that a good marriage is possible and one can get their Christmas cards out on time, or be a fitness model if you put in the work. Check out Callie's fitness movement by following her @fitmomofsoontobetwo on instagram. She is the fittest mom I know. Wouldn't you say?
Their story from beginning to present is beautiful but I'll save more of that for their wedding blogpost. They are such gentle and conscientious parents. Thank goodness they're out there!
Wesley has been so fun and cooperative even though I could take photographs of him forever. Having an older brother myself, I am extra excited to meet the new addition to their family since they have a girl on the way! Report back in March.
Thank you Callie and Kyle for supporting me through thick and thin! You guys fill my heart with so much joy and gratitude it's incredible. I look forward to all our futures intertwining in beautiful ways.
Peace and blessings to all.
And remember, focus on what you love!
